The 9 Best Marvel and DC Games For 2019

Rumors and Confirmed!

The past few years are stellar for superhero franchises. The phenomenal worldwide success of Avengers: Endgame plus the critically acclaimed Joker movie has refueled the industry even more.

Gamers, of course, should not be left behind as they too crave to experience the superhero genre. Though there are loads of DC and Marvel games released in the past few years this year is also brimming with unreleased games and rumors to get everyone hyped.

Did that get you excited? Let us check out The Best Marvel and DC Games For 2019: Rumors and Confirmed!

Confirmed and Released

Marvel’s Avengers

Everyone was all aboard the hype train when Marvel announced that it has signed and entered a multi-year and multi-game deal with publisher Square Enix way back in January 2017. The partnership was expected to produce and develop titles based on the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe.)

The first one in the line-up is the highly anticipated Marvel’s Avengers. According to Marvel, the game will follow an entirely new storyline that aims to introduce a unique universe that gamers can play for years. Pretty much how the MCU has aged well.

The project will be stuffed with characters, settings, and iconic bits that will excite Marvel fans around the world. The game Marvel’s Avengers will be available on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia and will be launched on May 15, 2020.

LEGO Marvel Collection

The LEGO Marvel Super Heroes will let you take on the role of your favorite Marvel characters from Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor, Wolverine, and Spider-Man. The game will follow an all-new original story.

In the game, you will encounter iconic Marvel Super-Villains, like Doctor Octopus, Green Goblin, Red Skull, and Galactus, to name a few. This action-adventure has a content-rich world and fabulous Lego elements. Unfortunately, the campaigns are a bit short though thankfully multi-layered. As the game progresses, you will unlock new characters from different Marvel franchises.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order

The Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order was developed by Koei Tecmo’s Team Ninja. The game was published by Nintendo exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. This game is the third installment of the highly acclaimed Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, the 2006’s Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and 2009’s Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2. Though both of the previous games are also published by Nintendo, this game is set in a different universe.

Upon its release last July 19, 2019, it received mixed reviews from both critics and players alike, but still enjoyed a warm reception. Like the previous games, the gameplay follows the traditional dungeon crawler that focuses on cooperative team play.

Iron Man VR

In this year’s New York Comic-Con, fresh news about the Iron Man VR was rolled out. A brand-new story trailer and an actual launch date were announced during the event. The game was expected to be out next year on February 28, 2020 and will be exclusively available on PlayStation VR.

The game, Marvel’s Iron Man VR will let the player do what Iron Man fans dreamed of: take on the role of genius, billionaire, philanthropist, playboy Tony Stark. In the game, Tony will be forced to face ghosts from his past and other antagonizing forces that are out to ruin him and everything he believes in. The game is being developed by Camouflaj and will be published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Exciting Rumors

Marvel’s Mobile Game?

It was announced in early 2019, that Marvel has indeed teamed up with a former Blizzard staff to develop a new mobile title to join the ever-growing superhero franchise. Ben Brode, who formerly worked as the director of the highly successful card-collecting Hearthstone game, is among the developers.

The new indie studio under Brode’s leadership, the Second Dinner, was rumored to have received a whopping $30 million from NetEase. This money is supposed to be used to fund for the mysterious Marvel mobile game in the works. Though technically Marvel has already have a card-collecting mobile game named Marvel: Battle Lines, fans are still lining up for news for this rumored and upcoming game.

Injustice 3

The global hit Injustice 2 was a massive success for NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros., so naturally, a sequel to ride on its achievement should be on the works. However, it seems that we won’t be seeing it anytime soon as these companies are busy with the Mortal Kombat franchise and which is still on the roll evident by its upcoming 11th installment.

We can safely assume that the developers could take a while to pick up the production of the Injustice series. Though the existence of Injustice 3 remains a rumor, fans are still hopeful that this rumor will be confirmed soon.

Batman Series Sequel

Last year, WB Games got fans’ attention when a rumor broke out that they are developing two open-world DC games. Earlier this year, Rocksteady Studios are said to be working on the next game in the Batman series called Batman: Arkham Crisis. But there are no exact details of this project, and everything are just speculations.

However, based on these rumors, the gameplay implies that it will follow a story mode with a 12-arc narrative. Though nothing is confirmed, it did not stop fans from being expectant and speculating of what WB Games is cooking for the highly anticipated sequel.

Rumored Guardians of The Galaxy

Though the Guardians of The Galaxy team has an official Telltale Games version, it seems that they are being groomed to their proper action game this time.
The rumors first surfaced way back in 2017 when Eidos Montreal is said to be working on Marvel’s Avengers and at the same time, developing a Guardian’s game.

However, there is no official confirmation from Eidos, so everything is just speculation. Yet, some sources say that the game will be the second in line following Square Enix’s multi-year partnership with Marvel.

Spider-Man PS4 sequel

Yes, Insomniac Games did not announce any hint that there will be a sequel to the highly acclaimed Spider-Man PS4. But the game’s warm reception plus a few plot threads that were left hanging has fueled speculations of an upcoming sequel. With three DLC available to extend the gameplay, fans are hopeful that Insomniac will drop the announcement soon.

Wrap-Up

The past decade has been the year of superheroes, and we are not complaining. Before these heroes are confined inside the comic book pages, but today, we are now seeing them flying in the silver screen and enjoying success in the gaming industry as well.

Though most of these games are rumors, fans like you and me can’t help but remain positive that someday we will get our hands on these titles soon. How about you what title are you most excited about? Share it with us down in the comments!
