During 2019, we saw the release of many games which were ground-breaking. This trend is likely to continue as glimpsed at the E3 2019 where we got a peek at many of the games slated for 2020. Many of the 2020 games are likely to build up on the success of their predecessors.
Some have been in the works for many years and are going to finally launch.
Here is a list of the confirmed and unconfirmed games that are coming out in 2020. Let’s have our fingers crossed and wait for these promising titles.
Release Schedule: May 15, 2020
‘Marvel’s Avengers’ features some of the most popular Marvel heroes including Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, Thor, Ant-Man and Hulk. The game is due to release worldwide for Xbox One, PC, Stadia and PS4. PS4 players will get early beta access. Up to 4 players can play this game which will feature an ever-expanding universe with customizable heroes and more. We are definitely looking forward to this.
Release Schedule: Holiday 2020
Halo Infinite will launch alongside the Xbox Project Scarlett. Microsoft intends to unveil the new Xbox in the 2020 holiday season and Halo Infinite will arrive at the same time. From what we know, the game will feature a 4-player split screen.
Dragon Ball Z Kakarot
Release Schedule: Early 2020
‘Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot’ has long been anticipated by the fans of the series. We saw the first trailer of the game back in Microsoft’s E3 conference and the gameplay looks very promising. The trailer features Gohan, Goku, Vegeta, Frieza, Piccolo and other characters. So all the best heroes and villains are here.
The storyline will apparently be the same as the series which may be a bummer for some gamers out there.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga 2020

Following up on the success of previous LEGO Star Wars games, the next in the series is ‘LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.’ This game is unique in that it is going to feature numbered levels from all the previous games in the franchise.
You will also be able to choose from a wide range of playable characters including Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Kylo Ren, Empteror Palpatine and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Although the exact release date for The Skywalker Saga is not known, we do know that it is arriving on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4 and Xbox One sometime in 2020.
Final Fantasy VII Remake
Release Schedule: March 3, 2020
Final Fantasy VII Remake has been in the offing for nearly a decade. Following up on a previous glimpse of the concept back in 2005, the game is finally slated for release this year. According to the Remake trailer, the game has retained many of its original designs and looks. It also remains an episodic game with a wide range of characters. Remake will be released for PS4 in March 3, 2020.

No More Heroes 3 – 2020
Release Schedule: 2020
‘No More Heroes 3’ is finally set to arrive nearly a decade after the last numbered entry in the series. ‘No More Heroes 2’ was launched back in 2010. A spinoff came out a few years ago and since then, we had a good idea that another numbered launch is in the works. The third installment will see the protagonist, Travis Touchdown, deal with other assassins with him beam sword.
The game is slated to arrive on Nintendo Switch sometime during 2020, an exact date is not known at this time.
Release Schedule: Spring 2020
‘Minecraft: Dungeons’ is due to arrive next year, much to the sheer delight of the fans of the immensely popular franchise. Fans of this pixilated heaven will get to explore dungeons this time. The gameplay will support up to four players, including both local and online players.
The game is due to arrive on both PC and Xbox One. Microsoft has also announced that the game will be included in the Xbox Game Pass and the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons

For fans of the original Animal Crossing game, the E3 announcement from Nintendo was a bit of a disappointment when the company delayed ‘New Horizons’ release from 2019 to 2020. That being said, the trailer of ‘Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ does show very promising gameplay to look forward to.

Trials of Mana
Release Schedule: Early 2020
‘Trials of Mana’ is a remake of ‘Seiken Densetu 3.’ Square Enix is remaking the original game into a 3D version complete with action-RPG. The game is set to arrive on PS4, Steam and Switch in early 2020. Enix has promised that the game will feature new skills, levels and other enhancements.
For the true fans of the Final Fantasy Adventure, this means that they will have yet another game to relish and enjoy in 2020.
Tales of Arise
Release Schedule: 2020
The latest in the ‘Tales of’ franchise is the ‘Tales of Arise.’ The game is due to arrive for PS4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows sometime in 2020. The new installment in the franchise builds up on the successes of ‘Tales of Zestiria’ and ‘Tales of Berseria.’
The game features the Linear Motion Battle System for which the franchise is known. Players can choose to play as Alphen or Shionne, two characters that travel together in the gameplay.
Release Schedule: 2020
After the wild success of Pokemon Go, The Pokemon Company now wants to make sleeping fun for you. Enter ‘Pokemon Sleep’, a gaming app for iOS and Android that will somehow turn ‘sleeping into entertainment.’
It is not clear exactly how that will work although we do know that the app will pair with an external accessory to track a user’s sleeping patterns. This data will then be used to affect gameplay during the night so that players get to ‘wake up with Pokemon’ every morning.
Despite the scarce details, Pokemon Sleep deserves a mention as it comes from one of the largest gaming franchises in the world. Is this a real game or a clever sleep-tracker? Guess we will know in 2020.
Watch Dogs: Legion
Release Schedule: March 6, 2020
The latest in the hacktivist-inspired Ubisoft series is ‘Watch Dogs: Legion.’ This new game features the same ‘Play as Anyone’ feature which has made the Watch Dogs a huge success. You can literally play as anyone by choosing any character you encounter in the game. This creates endless gameplay possibilities.
The gameplay involves recruiting members to your Dedsec gang and taking on the authoritarian individuals who are running London. ‘Legions’ is due to arrive on PC, PS4 and Xbox One early in 2020. We are looking forward to this open-world adventure.
Gods & Monsters
Release Schedule: February 25, 2020
Gods & Monsters by Ubisoft is an open-world adventure that draws inspiration from Ancient Greece. In fact, the narrator of the game is Homer, the ancient Greek author of Iliad.
The game features beautiful settings where you combat monsters and creatures of the ancient world as a hero. It is slated for PS4, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2
Release Schedule: December 31, 2020
For fans of the famous 2004 Vampire RPG, The Masquerade is a much-awaited sequel. In this game, you play as a vampire while masquerading as a human. The gameplay is set in Seattle where you meet notable vampires, forge alliances, fight against rival factions and vie for the control of the city.
Although technically scheduled for 2020, the game is so late in the year that it is essentially 2021. The Masquerade is due to arrive on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
Release Schedule: April 16, 2020
Cyberpunk 2077 has been long in the offing. We first heard about it back in 2012 and the project finally seems to be inching towards completion. The dystopian, futuristic gameplay of Cyberpunk 2077 offers a unique RPG where your choices affect the game world. This is a first-person shooter which, by the way, also features Keanu Reeves. It is arriving on PS4, Stadia, PC and Xbox One early next year.
With 2020 still a few months away, it is about time to line up your game choices for the year. Many long-awaited game projects like Cyberpunk 2077 and Final Fantasy VII Remake are reaching fruition in 2020.
Many of the 2020 games also promise to come with gameplay mechanics that are smarter, more intelligent and more real. So we can expect the games to be more immersive and fun.
